Seroe Colorado
PlaceS of Interest
In front of a backdrop featuring organ pipe cacti, you’ll find the whitewashed cottages of Seroe
Colorado. These cottages were originally built to accommodate oil workers, but now this area is
better known for its intriguing chapel that was built in 1939. Just beyond this community is a natural
bridge with hissing blowholes created by the power of the sea.
Ayo and Casibari Rock Formations
Very Interesting shapes, some resembling dragons and birds, lie amidst a dry desert-like landscape.
These are monolithic rocks known as the Ayo and Casibari Rock Formations. Located amidst cacti
and iguanas, one particular rock offers panoramic views of the island from its top. The site is known
to have been used by the earliest settlers on the island, the Arawaks, who created petroglyphs
during their religious ceremonies, some of which can still be seen on the boulders today.
