The Exclusion Zone Two thirds of the island in the south has been declared unsuitable to live due to possible future volcanic activity and this includes an area known as the exclusion zone. Although at one time this zone was off limits to visitors, it has recently been opened and visitors accompanied by certified guides, can now venture in. A subtle smell of sulphur still lingers in the air and one will be able to see, up close, the volcano’s devastation of this island. Photo Credit: Montserrat Tourism Division
