Diamond Beach
places of interest
Mont Pelee
Although the more adventurous visitors to the island love the thrill of hiking up to this active volcano
they should never do so alone. A trained guide is recommended. Most visitors, however, prefer
to take the less adventurous method of observing this awesome volcano by the use of a vehicle,
parking in the lots provided and hiking just a very short distance to the top. A dramatic panorama
await.
A beautiful six miles long, Diamond Beach located in Le Diamant town, is rarely crowded. For those
who prefer to sunbathe away from the popular beach of Pointe du Bout, this one is ideal, although
the surf can be strong, so swimming should be done with caution. This beach also provides great
views of Diamond Rock and visitors often stop by to admire the view on their way to other tourist
sights such as the Anse Cafard Slave Memorial.
