Sambil Shopping Mall When in Curacao, a visit to the island’s popular shopping mall, Sambil, is a must. Over 190 shops offers a wide variety of retail experiences and its food court is a gastronomic delight. For those looking for delicious home-made food in the food court, check out SoupSa and More. They serve delectable local dishes such as Mondongo Soup. S ince 1972, Tumba has been the local rhythm of Curacao Carnival. It is also the music of Aruba and Bonaire. The music of Tumba has been developing from the change of last century and is part of the islands history being a combination of its Dutch and African heritage. The four major instruments of Tumba music are the Timbales, Conga, Campana (the cow bell) and Guiro. The Tumba Festival is an important aspect of Curacao Carnival. A Tumba King or Queen is crowned and their winning piece becomes the selected song for that Carnival season. Overall, it is a great event with good music and a happy crowd. The Tumba King 2018 was Urvin Jano with “Sende lus pa Korsou”. https://youtu.be/FITZ92rle6E In photo, from left to right: Owner of SoupSa and More, Giovanni Atalita; a couple visiting from Paraguay and Sambil’s Corporate Manager.
