PlaceS of Interest
Daniel’s Head Park
Sitting at a picnic table at Daniel’s Head Park, while listening to the sounds of crashing waves and singing
birds, is the perfect setting for watching the moon rise or the sun sink into the ocean. Overlooking
Somerset Long Bay, the park is a hard-to-beat location from which to witness this beautiful daily
occurrence.
Deliverance was the name of the ship which
was built by the island’s first castaways in
order to help starving settlers in Jamestown,
Virginia. Today it is possible to relive that
history by boarding a replica of that ship and
seeing the conditions and lifestyles which
those rescuers had to endure to fulfill this act
of true humanity.
