Altun Ha
In an area 31 miles north of Belize City, surrounded by wildlife including crocodiles, white-tailed
deer, coati, armadillos, bats, squirrels and foxes lies the Archaeological Site Altun Ha. This old Maya
ceremonial site, believed to date back as far as 200 BC is known to consist of two plazas and thirteen
structures including a Temple to the Sun God.

As well as being home to Belize’s largest swimming pool, Bacab can also provide visitors with an
opportunity to see the local wildlife either by hiking a trail, cycling on horseback or perhaps even by
paddling a kayak down the river. The Jungle is nearby for further exploration but less adventurous visitors
can opt to relax in hammocks or take a dip in the pool.
