Pigeon Island This is a historical site consisting of 40 acres located north west off St. Lucia. The Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean originally surrounded Pigeon Island, but in 1972, the island was joined to the mainland by a causeway. The attractions on the island include ruins of military barracks, Fort Rodney, an interpretation center, a small museum and two restaurants. Two beaches, hiking trails and a look-out point providing spectacular 360 degree views of the north-west coast are additional reasons to visit. It is also the venue of the annual St. Lucia Jazz Festival. www.stlucia.org
