About her representation as the
"Junior Minister of Tourism" of Nevis
at the Caribbean’s Youth Forum
while in High School, and her other
accomplishments of the 2015 Nevis Youth Council, I was granted the
opportunity of being in the Model Organization
of the American States in March 2015, where I was
Secretary of the third committee.
While attending the Gingerland Secondary
School, I was given the opportunity to represent
my school in the quest to becoming Nevis’ Youth
Junior Minister of Tourism in the year 2011. I was
successful and then went on regionally to the
Caribbean’s Tourism Organization Youth Forum
for the Youth Junior Ministers of Tourism dialogue
in St. Martin in that year. I won second place
to Dominica, out of 11 competing Caribbean
countries, and was the first ever Nevisian to have
placed in top 3 in that regional forum. Additionally, I am also an avid writer and debater.
While at the Nevis Sixth Form College, I was part of
the debating group during 2013-2014, travelling
to Antigua in 2013 and Montserrat in 2014. I
gained the opportunity to be the lead debater in
my second year, where I helped my Team, “Team
Nevis” to move forward to semi-finals. In 2015, I
gained victory in the first ever debate put on by
the Nevis Island Youth Council.
Being the Youth Junior Minister of Tourism opened
my eyes to the plethora of opportunities which
tourism provides to our youth and our island. It
started me on my course to becoming a youth
advocate in my country and gave me a love for
tourism which is our island’s number one industry.
Subsequently, I went on to become further
involved in youth activism, becoming the secretary
of the Nevis Youth Tourism Council in 2012, and
secretary of the Nevis Island Youth Council in 2014.
I received awards in that year for my activism. I
was a recipient of the 25 Most Remarkable Teens
in St. Kitts-Nevis award. I also received a Youth
Impact award from the Nevis’ Youth and Sports
Department in the area of Leadership. Being a part
I have entered numerous essay competitions.
I placed 2nd in the 2013 OECS ECCB essay
competition and 1st place in the Youth and Sports
essay competition 2014. In 2012 I graduated at the
top of my class, with 14 CSEC subjects, attaining 9
distinctions.

to be. Unlike other carnivals around the region,
Nevis’ Culturama is bathed in culture as its name
implies. It runs usually from late July and ends
early August and has vast activities that tourists
and locals both enjoy. These range from pageants
such as the Miss Culture Queen Pageant and the
Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant, to road
parties such as J’ouvert, and Last Lap. Activities
