Sugar Cane Historical Park
The site of what was once the Chateaublond Plantation in Port-au-Prince is
now the home of Haiti’s most interesting museum, where the country’s sugar
history is well documented. Tour guides will take you on a journey through
time with many artefacts to aid the walk down memory lane - a production
plant, period bells, mills, boilers, barrels, ovens, fireplaces, aqueducts, all
geared to trace the sad, yet fascinating story of sugarcane in Haiti.
In addition to the museum, the Park is the host of many concerts, including
the Haiti International Jazz Festival held annually in January. At least 24
concerts are held here every year, since 2007. There is also a restaurant on
site serving some of the best Creole dishes in the country.
