GUADELOUPE The French Caribbean Archipelago Hop through the Guadeloupe islands and enjoy a vacation like no other. All of the islands are located no more than 45 minutes away from each other and the two largest islands, Grande Terre and Basse Terre are connected by a bridge, making movement between the two, fast and easy. The other islands are accessed by ferry with a round trip costing about 25 to 45 Euros per person. You can travel around the islands easily by bus or cab. The cabs are metered and an additional 40% surcharge will be added to your fare when travelling between the hours of 9:00 pm and 7:00 am, every day. If the cab is not metered, ensure that you have agreed on a fare with the driver prior to leaving. And, your driver may or may not be fully conversant with English so write your destination on a piece of paper for ease of travel. Basse Terre - Majestic! Lush vegetation, mountainous with a rich ecosystem and the home of La Soufriere volcano. Grande Terre - Fascinating! Beautiful beaches, resorts and restaurants adorn this island of rich heritage. Marie Galante - Authentic! The largest of the islands, the place where rum reigns and sandy beaches beckon. Les Saintes - Heavenly! Consisting of nine islands, two of which are inhabited (Terre de Haut and Terre de Bas), the bays are beautiful and the food is delightful. La Désirade - Pristine! Relatively untouched with quiet simplicity, lovely beaches and spectacular coral reefs.
