About Dominica, post-hurricane
When I saw the havoc that Hurricane Maria wreaked
on my home, I was heartbroken. When I look now and
see the progress that we are making, I must admit, I am
proud. Though the recovery process is going to be a very
long one, I have no doubt that we will rebuild bigger
and better. Our leaders and policy makers are working
hard to ensure that we are much better equipped for the
hurricane season, and we are working towards becoming
the world's first climate resilient nation. Businesses are
opening, our utility companies are working tirelessly
and the support that we have received from the regional
and international community is heartwarming.
I do believe that much more effort should be placed on
counselling and psycho-social support, however, but
can only go one step at a time.
