PLACES OF INTEREST Castillo de San Pedro del Morro, Santiago de Cuba Standing at the entrance to the Bay of Santiago is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Castillo del Morro, perhaps the best preserved Spanish fortress from the 17th century. Built into a rocky promontory (El Morro), this multi- level stone fortress has stood guard since 1638 and is a comprehensive example of Renaissance military engineering.
