The name “Batabano” is linked to the islands
turtling heritage. As the sea turtles crawl to the
beach to nest, their movement leave tracks on
the sand. Batabano refers to the sea turtle tracks,
which are celebrated, when they’re found. Hence
the carnival celebrations - the Carnival Batabano.
Carnival Batabano was launched in 1983 by the
Rotary Club of Grand Cayman. There is a Junior
Batabano and an Adult Batabano, both filled with
energized masqueraders, colourful parades, and
pulsating music, all within a safe, family-friendly,
fun-filled environment.
