Xunantunich Mayan Ruins

This is believed to be the longest established Mayan archaeological site in Belize . A major ceremonial site built on a natural limestone ridge during the Classic Period , it is composed of six major plazas , with more than twenty-five Maya temples and palaces . Well worth the trip and you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding area .

San Ignacio Market

To truly experience life in Belize , you must visit this market on a Saturday morning . Although it is open every day , Saturday seems to be the main day for shopping . San Ignacio is located on the Macal River in Central Belize and people converge in the market to sell their products and to shop . Amidst the lovely array of colours , the cacophony of voices and aroma of food being cooked right before you , this is a great way to spend a Saturday morning .
