What exactly does a private chef do ?
I work for myself , so as private chef I have to do everything , from marketing , preparing quotations , shopping to cooking ! But on a daily basis , I wake up early in the morning to go to the local fish market to get fresh local tuna , mahi , wahoo , Caribbean lobster , etc . for my customers . Then , I go to the bakery to get croissant and fresh bread for my breakfast chef service and when I arrive at the villa I start to nicely cut some fresh Caribbean fruit , cook some bacon , prepare some nice French Toast and blueberry pancake ! When my customers wake up , my waitress gets them their preferred coffee and they just have to sit at the table where everything is already nicely set . They enjoy the view and the best food ! I also make some nice confit onions omelettes with some great comté cheese . And we serve some freshly squeezed orange juice from our fruit extractor .
Once the breakfast is served , I go to the supermarket to do some shopping for my customer ’ s lunch and dinner . There I get some nice vegetables and fresh products depending on what my customers want to eat .
What would you say is most unique about your job and what aspect of it do you enjoy the most ?
I love the contact with my clients . I love to make them happy by cooking great meals for them . Once they hire me , every year after that they come back and ask me to come again to cook at their villa . We also organise special events and weddings and that also makes our work unique , we share some magical moments in the privacy of our customers .
What makes your day fun is the sunshine and the beautiful places where I work . Everywhere you go you get to see different beautiful views of the island . Then apart from that , I like the feeling of freedom I have , working for myself . I also talk a lot with different food suppliers . I love the contact with people and I love cooking !
