Dominica ’ s Boiling Lake

Dominica ’ s Boiling Lake is a natural cauldron of boiling water covered by Valley of Desolationa blanket of vapour and is the second largest of this kind in the world ; the largest is in New Zealand although this sometimes disputed .
This eight mile trail is among the most popular but strenuous trails on the island and takes approximately 6 hours to complete . The hike to the trail is as
176 adventurous as the lake itself , it moves through lush rainforest and beautiful mountain flora to the unique vegetation in the Valley , which survives despite the smouldering conditions .
