It originated from Bahamian Cat Island and consists of a melodious collaboration of the beating of a goat skim drum along with the playing of a harmonica and the scraping of a hand saw with a metal object. Due to its uniqueness, Rake n’ Scrape music is difficult to authentically replicate. The uncommon nature of this type of music has attracted the attention of many around the world, including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C., and it is often featured in Bahamian tourist publications.
