Day trip to Nevis
A visit to St. Kitts should include a trip to
sister-island Nevis, if only for a day. Getting
there is easy. Ferries run frequently between
the islands, the view en route is grand and
you’ll get there in about 15 minutes.
Although the island is small, you may not get
to all of the major places of interest in one day
but here are a few you can visit:
Nevis is the birthplace of Alexander
Hamilton and the house in which he lived
until he was nine years old now serves as a
museum and the Nevis House of Assembly.
There is an impressive Nevisian Heritage
Village, where a history lesson awaits,
complete with replica houses.
Jews once lived on the island and a Jewish
cemetery bears testimony to that era.
Plantation ruins dot the landscape at various
places throughout the island.
The Botanical Gardens is a must-visit and so
too is Horatio Nelson Museum.
Don’t forget the beaches. You can stop off at
any one of them and take a quick stroll.
And when it’s time for a meal, dine at
The Hermitage.
