ANTIGUA’S
DONKEY SANCTUARY
Donkeys are interesting
animals, but opportunities
to get close to them are
usually not many. On
Antigua, however, there
is a place where donkeys
are housed and visitors
are welcomed. If you’ve
had your fi ll of the island’s
beaches and sight-seeing,
and you want to do
something a bit different,
head over to the Donkey
Sanctuary, located in
the southeast village of
Bethseda.
The donkeys are looked
after by the Antigua &
Barbuda Humane Society.
Their facility is wheel chair
accessible and is open
every day except Sunday,
from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Donkeys can be adopted
and T-shirts can be
purchased which provides
much-needed funds for
the animals care. Other
animals also benefi t from
the care provided by this
organization.
If you are an animal lover
and want to donate to this
cause, visit their website for
more information.
