Lechón in Guavate
This is the perfect destination for families wanting to try authentic Puerto Rican dishes that are
off-the-beaten-path. Guavate is best known for its lechoneras which are kiosk style restaurants
which specialize in seasoned whole-pig, slow roasted over an open fire. Families can take a day
trip to try one (or more!) of the various lechoneras located along PR-184. On a weekend, the
entire area feels like a giant block party – full of people, food and activities. The best time to
experience Guavate is on Saturdays and Sundays.
