Vodou, also known as Voodoo,
is the religion of Haiti. The Priest
(Ougan) or Priestess (Manbo)
organizes Vodou ceremonies in
the Temple, called Peristil with
drum music, Creole or African
prayer, dances, vêvê (drawings),
colored clothes and food for
the spirits (lwa). Spectacular
possession scenes characterize
these ceremonies, where it is

A group of traveling traditional musicians
and dancers waling along the roads
during Holy Week. With their percussion
(graj, cymbals, drums, etc.), traditional
trumpets carved in bamboo (vaccine),
colorful costumes and songs inspired by
the scenes of peasant life and their catchy
dances, they plow the roads to greet
their close relatives, their customers and
bosses based in the cities. They create
a festive atmosphere in the mountains
when the Christian Church mourns the
death of his Lord. It is held during Holy
Week. Click here to read more.
