Vodou Ceremony Photo Credit: Jasmine Nears Vodou, also known as Voodoo, is the religion of Haiti. The Priest (Ougan) or Priestess (Manbo) organizes Vodou ceremonies in the Temple, called Peristil with drum music, Creole or African prayer, dances, vêvê (drawings), colored clothes and food for the spirits (lwa). Spectacular possession scenes characterize these ceremonies, where it is said gods personally visit their servants. Rara Exhibition Image Source A group of traveling traditional musicians and dancers waling along the roads during Holy Week. With their percussion (graj, cymbals, drums, etc.), traditional trumpets carved in bamboo (vaccine), colorful costumes and songs inspired by the scenes of peasant life and their catchy dances, they plow the roads to greet their close relatives, their customers and bosses based in the cities.
