PLACES OF INTEREST
Caguanes National Park
Caguanes National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and perhaps a perfect place for those
interested in eco-tourism. One of the more popular experiences enjoyed in the park is an exploration
of the 79 caves along the coast, some of which are very deep so it is wise to use the services of a
guide. The park also off ers clear waters for snorkeling and a variety of mangrove swamps for the
visitors interested in the diverse fl ora and fauna.
Cayo Santa Maria is located off the northern
coast of Cuba’s main island and is accessed
by a causeway from Caibarien. It is renowned
for its pristine sugar-white sands in the
north whilst the southern portion is covered
in forests, salt marshes and mangroves. The
Dolphinarium and the Wildlife Refuge are
popular attractions here, but snorkeling and
fi shing are also popular.
