PLACES OF INTEREST
Snorkeling on Bonaire’s West Coast
On Bonaire’s west coast you can literally stop off at any of its beaches and you will be in a great spot
for snorkeling. Calm seas and water that’s crystal clear on this side of the island makes the underwater
exploration quite pleasant. The more popular snorkeling spots are Bari Reef, 1000 Steps, Tori’s Reef
and Windsock. It’s easy to spot too as yellow stones mark the snorkeling locations.
The green fl ash is a phenomenon which at times may be seen at sunset when looking west.
As the majority of the sun slips under the horizon, you may glimpse a small fl ash of green in
a split second before the sun disappears. If you blink, you may miss it and bear in mind too
that it doesn’t happen often. This is something many tourists look forward to seeing and patio
dining at sunset in Kralendijk is usually a hot commodity. Being out on the water at sunset is
also popular too as people wait expectantly for the elusive green fl ash
