Cahal Pech Mayan Ruins
PLACES OF INTEREST
From 1000 BC until 800 BC, the palace of the Mayan rulers was in this area. Many of the visitors
to this 30 acre site come from the Cahal Pech Beach Resort but anyone is welcome. Visitors will
see a variety of buildings from that time, including residences, temples and a sweat house.
Hopkins Village
With only 1500 residents, Hopkins village may be small but it is big in welcoming thousands of tourists
each year who visit the village to experience true Belizean culture at its fi nest. Visitors often stop
here on their way to or from one of the many attractions nearby like cave tubing at the May Flower
Reserve or Maya ruins. Located in the coastal area of southern Belize, the village also off ers scuba diving
opportunities, trips to the barrier reef and even adventures in the nearby rain forests.
