HASSEL ISLAND
Hassel Island is now part of the Virgin Islands
National Park. The 136-acre island lies accross
from Charlotte Amalie harbor. It is an island
teeming with history. Ruins of military
buildings still remain. The island once housed
the operations of the Royal Mail Steam Packet
Company in the 1850s. A leprosarium was also
located on this island. You can book a tour of
the island with St Thomas Historical Trust. It is
guaranteed to be an interesting experience,
especially if you love history.
