Preparing the youth for a better future
The Mega D Youth Foundation (MYF) offers
extensive opportunities for students on Statia
to develop their talents, build bonds with
positive role models, improve their academic
performance, and improve social behavior.
The Foundation identifies that the youth of
St. Eustatius has a need for “something to do”
but also recognizes their need to grow up and
develop their capacities in positive ways that
can benefit society. The MYF also recognizes
the interest of the government and the general
public for a coordinated effort towards the
development of its youth. Because of this
common interest, MYF wishes to do more with
the “something to do” need by translating and
incorporating it into a coordinated, progressive
series of activities and programs that will
ultimately contribute to the development of the
youth of St. Eustatius.
MYF afterschool program has a powerful
and positive influence on the students of
Statia resulting in better attitudes towards
school, better motivation, higher academic
performance and less disciplinary actions
needed.
The opportunities at MYF includes but are
not limited to: further development of social
skills; homework support; access to technology;
resources; creative and performing arts; physical
fitness activities; service learning; job training;
and leadership opportunities. Since 2010 the
Foundation has served over 1,000 students
and has collaborated with diverse community
partners including Island Government, and
other Organizations.
