Kura Hulanda Museum
The African slave trade and colonialism as it relates to the island of Curacao is
clearly documented here. The museum can be toured with or without a guide
but it may be wise to use a guide as their knowledge will aid the story that will
unfold through the displays. Some may cringe while that dark period is being
revisited but it is nevertheless part of history and is all laid out in captivating
format in this museum. Artifacts relating to the story of slavery and local art
are also on display. Those who love history and even others who don’t will
all be moved in some way, by the sad story contained within. It is indeed a
worthwhile visit.
