PLACES OF INTEREST Revolution Square Originally known as Civic Square during President Batista’s rule, after Fidel Castro became President, it was renamed Revolution Square. A tall impressive tower is the center of attraction here and the statue of Cuban poet, journalist and national hero, José Martí adds to its allure. The tower stands at a majestic 109 meters, occupying a coveted spot at the highest point in Havana which was once known as the The Hill of the Jesuits. Other monuments of historic interest such as Che Guevera and Camilo Cienfuegos’ occupy Revolution Square which is also a venue for important events and political rallies.
