ST. THOMAS
St. Thomas is only 32 square miles in size and can certainly
be described as a Caribbean Island paradise. It is very
cosmopolitan and visitors can feel the pulse of an island that
offers much in the way of surprises and smiles. For those
visitors that are interested in the culture and history of the
islands, Fort Christian, the longest standing structure in all
the islands, is a museum and Market square which is a busy
market place selling local produce. It was once the busiest
slave market in the West Indies during the 1800s. Most visitors
to the islands though spend most of their time at the beaches
which rank among some of the worlds’ most beautiful and on
St. Thomas there is a beach for every occasion.
Bolongo Beach Resort – This beach located on the South of
the island offers water sports and beach toys for visitors to
enjoy.
Brewer’s Bay – Close to the University of the Virgin Islands
campus, this beach is a family favourite as it offers shallow
waters and plenty of room for sunbathing.
Hull Bay – As this bay is located on the North of the island,
when there is a northern swell, it provides the best opportunity
for surfing on the island.
Coki Point - This is a great place for snorkeling but also has a
dive shop and jet skis are availa ble for rent.
As there are also other great beaches, your days enjoyment
are taken care of, and in the evenings there are places like
the Cruzan Beach Club at the Secret Harbour Resort, Emerald
Beach Resort at Lindberg and Indigo Bar and Restaurant
at Magens Point Resort that offer live entertainment,
which usually includes steel pan, on different nights.
For those that prefer to stay off the beaches there is a Butterfly
Garden, Coral World Ocean Park and Phantasea Tropical
Botanical Garden.
