About the food of the Turks & Caicos Islands Being the first Culinary Ambassador of the Turks and Caicos Islands, it is with pride that I share foods that are unique to the Islands like seafood such as conch, lobster and fish. We also offer traditional Caribbean dishes like goat, oxtail, chicken etc. We are specially known for our tasty Saturday morning souse and homemade desserts like cocoa lumps, cream cakes, milk duece, potato bread, tamarind preserve and fudge. One dish that is unique to my country is the national dish; peas and harmny (grits) with conch served with fried or steamed fish and a side of avocado and sweet fried plantains. If I were to go into detail about how this was prepared we would be writing a cookbook instead of an interview, LOL.
