PLACES OF INTEREST As St. Eustatius is relatively small with a population of less than 4,000, it does not have the usual tourist attractions like amusement parks but the capital, Oranjestad and the island’s natural beauty, provides enough interesting places for most visitors. Oranjestad Oranjestad is not just the capital; it is also the only town on the island. The town has two parts, upper town and lower town which are connected by a zigzagging cobblestoned path. Here is where the 370 year old Fort Oranje hangs from the cliffs and is also the home to the Dutch Reformed Church, built in 1775 in the courtyard next to the fort. Nearby, along Synagogepad (Synagogue Path) is also Honen Dalim, believed to be the oldest Synagogue in the western hemisphere. Photo Credit: Hellebrand-Klein Photo Credit: TripAdvisor Traveller
