PLACES OF INTEREST
St. Barthelemy, more commonly known as just St. Barts, is best known for being the Caribbean Island the rich and
famous use and so, to many, it is more about being seen on the island than it is about what there is to see. The
most popular attractions on the island though are the duty-free shops and the idyllic white sandy beaches many
of which you can go topless and some where nudists are also welcome.
Gustavia
Gustavia is the island’s
capital and is named after
King Gustav III of Sweden,
during the 100 year period
that the island was under
Sweden’s control, before
once again returning to
French control. As well as
being ‘the’ place to shop
on the island, Gustavia
has two forts, Fort Karl
and Fort Gustav which
overlook the city and the
island’s official heritage
museu, Wall House.
Gustavia is also well-
known for its excellent
restaurants.
