El Yunque El Yunque (The Anvil) is a National forest and the only rainforest in the United States National Forest system. This forest, located within an hour’s drive from the capital, has been nominated as one of the natural wonders of the world and has many trails in its mountainous forests. Here a visitor can drive under a waterfall or dive into refreshing cool spring waters surrounded by lush greenery. © Puerto Rico Tourism Company Old San Juan The old part of the Island’s capital was founded in 1521 and as visitors move along the blue cobblestoned streets that form a maze through colonial architecture, they will see fortresses and plazas including the Plaza de Armas which now acts as a meeting place. In Old San Juan there are museums, shops and relaxing cafes to enjoy whilst experiencing a bygone era. © Puerto Rico Tourism Company The Vieques Biobay There are only 5 bioluminescent bays known to exist in the world and Puerto Rico is home to 3 of them. Perhaps the best of these can be found on the island of Viegues, just off Puerto Rico’s mainland. Once described as ‘one of the must do things before you die’ kayaking through the bay’s mangroves offers an experience like no other. The oars glow green in the water and fish flash past as underwater streaks of lightning. © Puerto Rico Tourism Company
