The Floating Market Enjoy the kaleidoscope of colours from the stalls of local vendors - fruits, vegetables, seafood, craft and more in this vibrant, bustling setting in Punda. Boats from Venezuela and Columbia come here to sell their produce daily and while the entire market does not really float, some of it does, as fish can be purchased directly from the boats docked in the harbour. It is lively place to visit, and a good local experience. Photo Credit: Roger W. Rif Fort Situated at the entrance of St. Anna Bay, this military fort built in 1828 once protected the harbour for almost a century. With walls nearly a foot thick, the fort was considered to be bomb-proof. Today, it houses a museum and trendy shopping area with restaurants, bars and entertainment. Photo Credit: Roger W. Plasa Bieu For authentic island cuisine, this is the place to be. Inside what is called the “Old Market”, you’ll find six kitchens manned by locals who hold the secrets to delectable island cooking. Generous servings are plated and eagerly consumed by locals and tourists alike. On the menu are traditional dishes such as stewed goat, rice and peas, fried plantain, pumpkin pancakes and funchi. You’ll sit on rustic benches in their food court amidst the cacophony of voices, but some say these are the best meals on the island! © Curacao Tourist Board © The Curaçao Tourist Board
