Angela , the Artist
I have been experimenting with art since childhood , I especially like to use my hands to build things , which is why I have numerous collections . The real painting came when I was in junior college in art class and then on to University where I was provided with the tools to create .
As an artist I have had 4 major solo art shows . 2004 - Subconscious Works of Art , held at the Mexican Institute of Culture and History . Guests included the Ambassador and I was inaugurated by the Honorable Sir Colville Young , the Governor General of Belize who was appointed by the Queen .
In 2006 , I had “ Hot Chicks Can Paint Too ” which was held at the Image Factory and opened by the then Prime Minister , the Honorable Said Musa . Here is where I launched my first book ,
“ The Light , the Dark and Everything in Between ”, and the PM read excerpts throughout the night . I then took the same exhibit to Belizean Arts on the Island of Ambregris Caye some months after .
My final Exhibit “ Impulse ” was again held at the Mexican Institute of Culture and History . This was a huge exhibit with art , installations and performances alike . My second book “ Artists Confessions ” was also launched here .
I have been featured in joint exhibits , “ Women in Art ”, “ She mean We ” and featured in calendars and books launched throughout the Caribbean . I was selected to represent Belize in Trinidad and was featured in a calendar showcasing Caribbean women in Art . Part of the exhibit was launched in Port of Spain , Trinidad with CLICO , where the art remains today . You can also see some of my work in the museum on Belize .
