Great Inagua & Little Inagua Islands
Great Inagua is the third largest island in The
Bahamas. 20 miles long and 55.189 miles wide, it
is the home of the Inagua National Park, which
covers 45% of the island. There, you’ll find over
80,000 West Indian Flamingos, the Bahama parrot,
other pelicans, ducks and hummingbirds.
Wetland sites created during salt production have
made this area the largest nesting ground for the
West Indian Flamingo in the Western Hemisphere.
Over 140 species of birds!! Indeed a bird-watcher’s
dream.
Little Inagua Island is a protected habitat for
endangered sea turtles. A vast reef prevents
boaters and sailors from getting too close to its
shores.
