A sapper, also called pioneer or combat engineer, is a combatant who performs a variety of engineering duties such as breaching fortifications, demolitions, bridge-building, laying or clearing minefields, preparing field defenses, as well as working on road and airfield construction and repair. They are also trained to serve as personnel in defensive and offensive operations. A sapper's duties are devoted to tasks involving facilitating movement, defense and survival of allied forces and impeding those of enemies.

The Photo & Video Experience July 26-28
The Photo & Film Expo has been taken over by Messe Frankfurt, the fourth largest events company in the world. It has been entirely re-designed with a new offering and a clear path forward and a serious marketing budget.
It has been rebranded to “The Photo & Video Experience” and takes place at Kyalami Conference Centre from 26-28 July. They are very focused on the professional market and looking to engage with us on a serious level.
They have offered free entry for the entire duration, valued at R200, to all (paid up!) SAPP Members, as well as access to the VIP lounge, where you will be able to relax, enjoy free snacks and drinks and interact with colleagues and the guest speakers.
We will also have a SAPP stand and encourage you to come along and interact with potential members and each other.
We are in talks with two other media associations, to look at ways of joining together and increasing awareness of our common goals. This will swell our numbers and hopefully create a greater understanding of what a professional is.
