My first visit to America
No 14, Year 14, May 2017
My family and I went to Aspen in Colorado, USA. We went there because we like
skiing and there are four mountains covered in snow. We also have friends in
Aspen that we wanted to visit.
To get there, we needed to fly in
three different airplanes and it
lasted for almost 24 hours. First we
flew from Zagreb to Frankfurt.
From there we took a plane to
Denver. That was very long, almost
11 hours. The third plane was to
Aspen. In Aspen there is the
smallest airport I have ever been to.
Our friends picked us up there and
took us to their place. They have
two kids and we all got on very well.
We were skiing on all four
mountains: Buttermilk, Snowmass,
Highlands and Aspen Mountain.
Buttermilk is the easiest and Aspen
Mountain is the hardest to ski on.
One day I went to school with my
friend Luka who lives in Aspen. He
is in the fourth grade so I was a
fourth grader for a day. The yellow
bus, that you probably know from
the movies, picks you up close to
your house and takes you to
school.The school consists of three
buildings: middle school (5th-8th
grade), primary school (1st-4th
grade) and kindergarten. First we
had two classes and after that we
had a break. While we were eating,
the teacher was reading some
book out loud. The fourth class was
music. After that we had Spanish
and I didn’t understand anything.
Then we went out to the
playground.
After that we had lunch. They bring
lunch from home or buy lunch there
with some special card. Sixty
minutes later we went home, again
by bus. Out of those 60 minutes,
they spend the first 15 minutes
reading whatever they want and
then they have the last class.
On the trip back, the first flight was
delayed so we couldn’t make it to
the second one. We slept in
Chicago and saw Willis Tower. We
were on 103 rd floor and we saw
everything from up there. From
Chicago we flew to Munich. After
that we flew to Zagreb. That was
the end of our interesting trip.
