ACHIEVEMENTS ASIF ’ s achievements can be summarised under three broad themes and the measured outcomes defined , as below : 1 . Adoption and Commercialisation : Through ASIF ’ s investment , the investee companies have been capacitated to increase adoption and commercialisation of new higher yielding and disease resistant varieties relevant to specific ecological zones . a . New varieties introduced and commercialised over the life of investment are : i . OPV Maize : Open Pollinated Varieties ii . Hybrid Maize iii . Legumes such as cowpeas , pigeon peas and green gram Overall increased investment in the commercialisation of improved varieties promotes research and development which strengthens the case of integrity of seed accessed by farmers
