St. Ursula Villa mourns
the loss of these cherished
faculty members:
Faculty and Staff Celebrate Milestones
At this spring’s Final School Mass, 9 members of the Villa faculty and staff were
recognized for their milestone years of service to the school.
Ms. Kathy Steinmetz on October
13, 2017. Mrs. Steinmetz taught
3 rd grade from 1975-2007 and
was parent to Villa graduates
Beth Gunderson ('83) and Laura
Hawke ('81). As a Villa teacher,
Mrs. Steinmetz touched the lives of
hundreds of students and families.
2000
After living in New York City
for 10 years and working in
young adult book publishing
at HarperCollins, Margot
Wood and her husband moved
to Portland, OR in February
where Margot has started
working as the Director of Sales
at Oni Press - a comic book
publisher behind major comics
such as Rick & Morty, Scott
Pilgrim, and Atomic Blonde.
Allison Blocksom Precht
and her husband Justin
welcomed their first child,
Nora Blocksom Precht, to the
world September 10, 2017.

Mrs. Nancy Moormann on
December 31, 2017. Mrs.
Moormann taught from 1975-2001
and was known for her creative
cross-curricular teaching in Social
Studies, Math, and Science
and deep love of learning which
inspired countless Villa students.

1968
Kenneth Huber lives in Milford, OH and is retired from the
U.S. Navy: “The last 12 years I have been involved with the
thoroughbred horse racing industry. My grandfather took me to
the River Downs race track when I was 9 years old. I really liked
the excitement and beauty of horse racing from that first day. I
didn't really fall in love with the sport until I was in the Navy.
Going to the race track was very popular with sailors back then.
I have always been pretty good with numbers, so handicapping
(using both factual information and opinions to predict and
outcome, in this case the winner of a race) came easy to me. When
I retired from the Navy I decided to try to make a living betting
on horses, and that is what I have done for the last 15 years. I
have owned a few race horses, and also broadcast on occasion. “
1999
Mrs. Sheila Wiedemer on February
22, 2018. Mrs. Weidemer taught
2 nd grade at the Villa from 2001-
2006. She loved teaching and
loved each of her students as if
they were her own.

Megan Ortner is a United States Air Force
Major and attorney in the JAG Corps, and
recently spoke to the Villa’s Junior High about
her military career, opportunities with the
military, and words of wisdom for success in
high school and beyond. Megan is currently
stationed at Travis Air Force Base, CA.
2001
Julia Neidhard Silvestro was
born on May 7, 2018 to very
proud parents Sally Neidhard
and John Silvestro, who now
live in Pittsburgh.
2003
Monica Baylis married Vince
Voss in 2018 and is living in
San Diego. Monica is Head of
Business Development for
Ascribe's Outsourced Verbatim
Solutions Team.
2004
Jane Heekin was married
to Joe O’Brien of Chicago
at a wedding mass at St.
Ursula Academy’s Chapel on
September 9, 2017. Villa grads
Annie Heekin ’02, Dana
Biggs ’04, Susie Blocksom
McDonald ’04, and Kelly
Neyer Robertson ’04 were
in the wedding party. Other
Villa grads in attendance were
Carlyn Runnels ’04 and
Colleen Davren Hert ’02.
Jane and Joe reside in Cincinnati
where Jane is a mental health
counselor at Ikron.
Julie Scherer has taught 5 th
grade in Toledo, OH for the past
five years. This spring Julie
graduated from University
of Michigan's Educational
Leadership and Policy program
with a master's degree and is
thrilled to be starting a new
position as Principal at St.
Catherine of Siena School in
Ft. Thomas, KY.
2005
Annamarie Schaffield and
Alex Rinehart have tied the
knot! As they tell their story,
they “met at St. Ursula Villa
in the 3 rd grade, became good
friends in the junior high,
and ended up dating in the 8 th
grade.” Though their paths
crossed a few times throughout
high school (Saint Ursula
Academy and St. Xavier), they
did not reconnect until senior
year at Ohio State University.
Annemarie and Alex took their
engagement pictures on the
Villa campus, were married in
June 2018, and now reside in
Cincinnati. Alex is a Client
Services Associate at the
Rinehart Sussli Financial Group
of UBS and Annamarie is a
Special Education teacher at
Sycamore Junior High School.
