Nursing home
Fewer than 5% of the beds at St Joseph’s Home are
meant for hospice care. Yet we are often mistakenly
regarded as a hospice-only facility due to the
untiring efforts of Sr Geraldine and her team in
advocating for those with advanced illnesses and the
dying. In reality, the nursing home and hospice are
as distinct as they are intertwined.

CARE CONCEPT CARE MODEL
The ‘hospice’ philosophy of care focuses
on the person as a physical, emotional and
spiritual being and on what matters to her
/ him. At our home, this practice extends
to non-dying persons as well. The family model sees 4 rooms clustered
around one pantry and kitchenette with
every level having 3 such family clusters.
Only the ground floor has only one cluster
owing to the small number of hospice beds.
