Grandparents Circle
Shepping Nachas Together
During the 2015-2016 school year, we invited
Lamplighters grandparents for the first time to
their very own ‘Grandparents Day’ where they
could visit - and experience - what makes their
grandchildren’s education at Lamplighters
so unique. At their special tour, Lamplighters
grandparents joined our newly formed Grandparents Circle, where they can connect with us
in so many different ways. Grandparents can
opt in see pictures of their grandkids every day
by joining the Lamplighters Family Facebook
group. They can also sign up for an in-depth
tour of Lamplighters in action or join our Open
Camera Viewings of their grandchild’s classroom. They can volunteer their time, talent, or
professional expertise. And of course, receive
the Grandparents Circle seasonal newsletter.
Free of charge.
Uplift
Every week, we fill one section of the school’s weekly newsletter with
something we call “Parents Pass the Torch.” This is the section of the
newsletter where our parents get to be the Lamplighters-- think of it
as a chain of inspiration. Mendel Jacobson, a Lamplighters parent,
spearheaded this initiative and wrote the first Parents Pass the Torch
d’var Torah who then nominated another family who then, in turn,
nominated another and so on until the end of the year… And it’s still
going.
At the start of the 2015-2016 school year, we launched a brand new
initiative called UPLIFT. With every holiday, Lamplighters Yeshivah
students take on a specific project to give back to our community and
its wonderful organizations and institutions such as Bikur Cholim,
senior homes, and Friendship Circle.
