The boys thrived . More content was covered , and it was covered well . We added five more tablets for the remaining boys to join the Chumash curriculum . They then wanted more subjects on the tablets ! They became the troubleshooters , as they tweaked and added to the program . R ’ Newman recorded additional content areas , including Sichos , Pirkei Avos and Navi . We discovered a hidden gem in this program . The tablets also enabled the children to work on the specific areas they were most challenged by . For example , one student had a hard time with the trup-- now he can sail through the translation , and replay the trup as many times as he needs . One student finds the translation challenging , so he can focus on that , without slowing the progress of his classmates .

More Technology Developments
Open Camera Viewings
We initiated a little ( huge ) program called “ Open Camera Viewings .” Picture a football game being narrated play-by-play - except this time , it ’ s a living , thriving Lamplighters classroom . We invite parents from a particular classroom to visit the school and watch their child ’ s classroom- LIVEas Morah Rivkah narrates and explains what ’ s happening in that class . The cameras move around the classroom , zoom into the intricacies , highlight social interactions and academic lessons - and parents are able to see , hear and understand what and why Lamplighters students do what they do . A Lamplighters classroom utilizes a unique model and it requires subtitles . The “ Open Camera Viewing ” is where we make that happen . The turnout and response was absolutely incredible .
We ’ re proud to have the level of transparency , confidence , quality learning and technology to truly bring our parents into the classroom and bring our unique model to life .
Looking to the Future : The Visible Classroom
Our technology library was established in honor of Reb Reuven ben Binyamin A ” H Amrami
We at Lamplighters Yeshivah have already formed a lab school community that uses basic science ( like Behavior Analysis and Montessori methodoly ) for Jewish education . Most of the basic technology needed already exists -- what ’ s missing is an open source community that links the science , technology and education . Lamplighters is ready to lead this community with the practical knowledge of what The Visible Classroom ’ sscience and technology must be able to do and can furnish the labschool environment needed to perfect the technology and curriculum development process . This year , we received the seed money to kick start this revolutionary project .
Over 20 principals , educators and administrators from schools across the country choose Lamplighters Yeshivah to observe best practices as part of the Doctorate in Education program at Yeshiva University ’ s Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education & Administration .
