I CHOOSE FREEDOM
As I share my personal experience as a survivor of domestc violence, I
hope you learn a thing or two from my story.
One of the reasons why most women (myself included) jump into early marriages is due to not being
from a well-to-do background. When this background becomes unbearable, we fnd every means
possible to escape, in search of a beter life and arms to run to. In this process, we ignore the signs of
violence and incompatbility, but only see the vision of waking up to a beter life than our
parents/guardians could aford. o mater what the man does, we see it as a form of the love he has for
us, and in the process, we put up with things (words and actons) that shouldn’t be tolerated. It takes
years of sufering, beatng, verbal and fnancial abuse to realize we have been enduring an abuser.
