1. When have you decided to become
husband and his mother who was a teacher. She did
some things wrong and I realized that I would be a
much better teacher. So I gave up medicine and
finished teacher’s training college. I have never
regreted it.
2. I have been working since 1983 only in this
school.
3. I like teaching children (I believe I know a lot
about different things), and the little ones are eager
to learn different things.
4. Children trust you unconditionally and are very
sincere. If they accept you and love, then you are
appreciated by their parents as well.
5. This school year I am teaching third grade
students.
6. I really love my job. Children show me how much
I have achieved. I also get a feedback not from their
parents but from the theatres, museums, galleries…
a teacher?
2. How long have you been teaching?
And in this school?
3. Why have you chosen to become an
elementary teacher?
4. What is so special in teaching
elementary classes?
5. Which grade are you teaching
this year?
6. Do you like your job and why?
Mrs Irina Osmanbašić
1. In the eight grade I wanted to be an educator in
kindergarten. I attended 8 th grammar school Tituš
Brezovački (1989) and I was an excellent student so I
decided to become a primary school teacher.
2. I started teaching before my final exam in 1996,
first as a substitute teacher in different schools and
in 2013 I got a teaching position in our school.
3. I can sing, I can paint well, I like to play with
children, and all of that is very helpful in elementary
teaching which is interesting, versatile and is not
focused on one school subject but to six.
4. I treat my pupils from first to fourth grade as my
own children, I even spend more time with them
than with my own children, and during these four
years I get to know them well, I grow with them, I
see how they develop from little first graders who
could not distinguish the books to fourth graders
who are almost complete personalities. It is
priceless.
5. This school year I teach class 2a.
6. I love my job because it is interesting I hope I am
doing something useful.
1. Every little girl at certain stage dreams to be a teacher
and in my case this stage lasted. I was only changing the
subjects I “taught“ . At the end of secondary school
when I finally needed to decide, my choice was an
elementary teacher. My family didn't succeed to talk me
against it mentioning low income. When you are young,
you are always an idealist.
2. I have been teaching for 10 years and in this school 8.
3. I believe it is a wide range of interests. In elementary
teaching you are not limitted with only one area. In one
day you do language, mathematics, art... it is dynamic.
4. Relationship you build with children is special. They
become “yours“. You are their mum, dad, friend, idol,
authority. You watch how they improve and develop
through the years and you know that you helped building
that little human being.
5. This year I teach first grade.
6. “Choose the job you love and you wouldn't need to
work a single day in your life.“ The thesis that teachers
have 3 months holidays fails. Real teachers have more.
I consider myself lucky because I do the job I like. And I
Iove it because of all the things I mentioned above.
