TECHNIQUES AND METHODOLOGY OF ADAPTATION
PROBLEM AND SCHOOL FEAR
Examples from the process
If an infant accompanies their mother to kindergarten to drop off or
pick up their older sibling, this is an especially valuable method. If the
infant can walk, they are usually immediately invited to the group to
play and communicate.
If two children from the same family are coming into the same group
for the socialization period, it s easier for them to be together in a
group of children they haven t met before.
WE REACH OUT TO FAMILY LONG BEFORE THE CHILD STARTS
KINDERGARTEN
When parents make the decision to send their child or children to
preschool, we prefer to first welcome them for a socialization period
in the form of playing outside. This way, these children can
communicate with other children and the teacher. Those with multiple
children who already have one child in preschool tend to also send
the other. We also include parents into the socialization period.
Example 6 - Croatia
With this technique, socialization is easy. Children who are familiar
with other children, teachers and classrooms look forward to coming
to kindergarten and enjoy playing with their siblings or familiar faces
from the neighborhood. Younger children with older siblings in the
group tend to feel more confident and safe, feeling proud of
themselves from the start of the socialization period. This also speeds
up the process, as no tears or separation anxiety is present in these
individuals.
