Sudarshan Dheer
Creator of the HPCL Logo
M
JULY 5, 1937 – APRIL 6, 2018
any people dream of leaving a legacy behind that will continue to
survive much after they pass away. Only a few are successful in
doing so.
One such person was Sudarshan Dheer, the man who gave us our identity
– the HPCL Logo.
The HPCL logo which has over the decades become an iconic symbol, was
created to be dynamic, flexible and businesslike. It has stood the test of
time and continues to be as vibrant and relevant as when it was created.
The logo symbolically represents a spurt of oil with energy bursting out of
the earth struck. It also has a unique colour scheme comprising of letters
HP in Signal Red and the Spurt of Energy and the Circle in French Blue on a
white background.
For us at HPCL, the omnipresent image of the logo spotted at every nook and
corner of the country fills us with happiness and pride. As we continue to go
about our daily duties bringing greater glory to our Corporation, let us pay
tribute to the person who gave us the symbol that unites and binds us all.
