K-pop dance is essentially a dance that is done to Korean Pop music. The music genre originates in Korea, largely inspired by American hip-hop and pop in the 90s and has evolved to have a distinctive bright colour and energetic style that the dance echoes. There is an emphasis on boy-groups and girl-groups, sometimes with as many as fifteen members, so the choreography is often designed for large groups of dancers working together to create highly synchronised, precise and sharply executed performances. A large focus is also placed on glamour and charisma.
