motivate you (NOT power, money, or any of those other fleeting accoutrements). Public service is about serving the public first—not yourself. So being grounded in your values allows you to make decisions in a way that is true to the constituents who voted for you because of those purported values and stances on the issues.  Why are you running all these 5K’s this summer?  AMARA: I’m running a bunch of 5ks this summer 1) because I like running, and 2) because it’s part of a series with CUSP Magazine called “Amara Runs the City.” It’s an opportunity to check out great neighborhoods, support some great causes, and meet Chicagoans from all walks of life! We’re able to join forces with My Block, My Hood, My City to really showcase all that Chicago has to offer and shed some light on people, organizations, and businesses doing great things for the city. What’s next? AMARA: What’s next for me? The world is my oyster right now. I’m enjoying doing public policy consulting work, educating the public on key policy issues affecting us, and developing initiatives that enhance the quality of life for average Chicagoans. I’ve got options about how to move forward, and that’s a great feeling. Who’s the most attractive politician in Chicago and why?  Hmmm, I think we’ll have to do a public poll on that one ;-) 35
