AMARA RUNS THE CITY Why did you run for mayor and not run for a lower-level office first?  AMARA: I ran for mayor because I had a very specific vision of what Chicago could be and knew I was more than qualified to lead in the actualization of that vision. I have a passion for problem-solving and public policy. My entire life prepared me for the journey I’ve embarked upon, which includes running for mayor.
